January 2026 Missions Spotlight
Matthew and Ednay Abel
Matthew (Mafu) and Ednay Abel have been serving as AFLC missionaries since 2015. Their experience started with a ministry centered around youth camps in Brazil. Eventually Matthew transferred to interim pastoral work. They then took a call to plant churches in Paraguay. They move to Paraguay in 2019 where they immersed themselves in the culture and language. Now, they are located in Villarrica to plant an AFLC church. The mission: “To preach Jesu Christ, that people might come from darkness to light----from death to life. Once the people come to faith, they need to be discipled…Evangelism and discipleship, this happen when people are gathered together around God’s Word”. One of Mafu’s favorite parts of the culture is a tradition which is all about conversation---time spent with one another. This is accomplished through home Bible studies, meals, weekly church services, and camps, which Mafu and Ednay are eager to establish in their community, along with their four children: Zoey, Ian, Boaz, and Levi.
The Abel family is a true example of fulfilling the goals of the AFLC World Mission. Please support their mission.
You can support the Abels by placing your Mission Love Offering in the special envelopes found in the pew racks and on the ushers’ table.
